You've heard about clasped weft, now learn about Clasped Warp! This is an exciting technique to expand your warping skills. Clasped warps let us play with more than one color per warp thread and it creates a beautiful unique effect. We will make a sampler using clasps in both the warp and weft. These linked color effects create movement and interest in your fabric.

This frame loom class is designed for weavers of all levels. From beginners to experienced weavers, this class is perfect for all levels. Using different textures and an array of colors, you will learn to create a one of a kind wall hanging. You will learn how to warp a frame loom. You will play with weaving techniques such as Tabby, Rya, and Soumak and then explore different ways you can finish your wall hanging.
Materials needed: Please bring your own frame/tapestry loom. We recommend the Lilli Loom from Schacht. Must be purchased before the class (it needs to be put together.) Class looms are not provided.

Welcome to Log Cabin Weaving! Although its just plain weave, the log cabin technique uses color changes to make a beautiful fabric. Using horizontal and vertical stripes, any weaver can create unique patterns within this color and weave family. It is a completely reversable fabric that uses 2 color in both the warp and the weft. Students will learn how to design a pattern, warp and weave this complex βlookingβ woven structure within this class.

Inkle Loom Weaving 101

Description: The Inkle Loom is a wonderful small loom that creates Warp faced fabric. We love to make projects such as, purse straps or guitar straps, towel loops, belts, and even pet collars with this little loom. In this class students will learn how to set up and warp the loom. We will learn how to create string heddles and how to read an inkle loom pattern. This class is just the first step into learning how to use and see what this great loom can do. In class the students will start to weave a band that when finished can be sewn into a purse handle or belt.
You wonβt finish the project in class, students must have their own loom.

Learn To Weave on a Rigid Heddle
Beginning Rigid Heddle

Description:
Rigid Heddle looms are a great way to explore texture and color in weaving. In this class, participants will get an introduction to weaving language and project planning, including a Project Planning Worksheet that helps them calculate how much yarn is needed for a project. Then they will learn how to use a warping peg to do a direct tie-up and threading for the warp. Once the loom is warped, they will practice weaving in a basic tabby pattern.
Participants will have access to the looms at TYF for weaving time during regular store hours in the week following the class.
Participants need to purchase or bring the following supplies when they come to class:

Warp and weft yarn for the project
this project requires two skeins of Cascade Ultra Pima yarn, one for the warp and one for the weft.

We will explore clasped weft, fingering manipulated lace patterns, 2 shuttle weaving, and pickup stick float techniques, all in this class.
