Description:
This is a great class to learn the art of weaving or sharpen your skills at the loom. Participants will get an introduction to weaving language and project planning, including a Project Planning Worksheet. Before warping the loom, participants will learn how to calculate how much yarn is needed for a project. Then they will learn how to tie their warp, warp the loom, and use basic weaving tools to weave tabby, twill, and variations on twill patterns.

We will demonstrate hemstitching on the loom, learn to read a variety of patterns and how to use them as inspiration to any project. Students will also learn trouble shooting for weaving. The Inkle Loom is a wonderful small loom that creates Warp faced fabric. We love to make projects such as, purse straps or guitar straps, towel loops, belts, and even pet collars with this little loom. In this class students will learn how to set up and warp the loom. We will learn how to create string heddles and how to read an inkle loom pattern. This class is just the first step into learning how to use and see what this great loom can do. In class the students will start to weave a band that when finished can be sewn into a purse handle or belt.
You won’t finish the project in class, students must have their own loom.
