Beginning Intarsia Knitting

This workshop will introduce Intarsia knitting –a two-color, colorwork knitting technique. We’ll discuss how to read charts, the basics of working with multiple colors, how to hold and knit with two yarns, and how to maintain good tension in your knitting. You’ll learn the technique by knitting a swatch with a Intarsia pattern.

Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills, ability to knit and purl in the round and flat.

Participants need to bring the following when they come to class:

  • Pre-work for class: See pre-work section or call the store

  • US size 7 (or size to obtain approx. 5 sts per inch in stockinette)

  • Worsted weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors (yardage amounts provided with pre-work info)

  • Pen or pencil
