Class Pre-Work
Some of our classes have some pre-work to finish before your scheduled class day. Find your class, open the description and click on the link for the prework pattern. Please call or email the store if you have any questions.

Pre Work for Brioche Basics Neck Warmer Project.
Materials:
Yarn: Cascade 220 or 220 Superwash from Cascade Yarns (100% Wool, 220 yards, 3.5 ounces, #3/DK Light Worsted Weight)
You will need approx. 70 yards of the Main Color and 45 yards of a Contrast Color
There should be a strong contrast between your two colors, and at least one of them should be a solid color.
Needles: US Size 5 (3.75mm) 16β circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
Other Materials: Darning Needle, Locking Stitch Marker
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch
Before the Class:
Using MC, cast on 100 stitches. Join for working in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.
Work Ribbing (still using MC):
Rounds1-5: *k1, p1; rep from * to BOR.

Pre-Work Handout for Advanced Brioche Dish Cloth
Materials:
Yarn: Sarasota from Cascade Yarns (60% Cotton/40% Acrylic, 314 yards, 3.5 ounces, #3/DK Weight)
You will need two colors--a Main Color and a Contrast Color. There should be a strong contrast between your two colors.
Needles: US Size 3 (3.25mm) circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
Optional: Additional larger size circular needle (for casting on and binding off)
Other Materials: Darning Needle
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch
Finished Size: approx. 6 Β½β x 7β, unstretched
Abbreviations:
brk = brioche knit (see Stitch Guide)
brp = brioche purl (see Stitch Guide)
Stitch Guide:
brk = brioche knit: knit the stitch that was slipped in the previous row together with its yarn over
brp = brioche purl: purl the stitch that was slipped in the previous row together with its yarn over
sl1yo = slip 1 yarn over: wyif, slip one stitch purlwise, then bring the yarn up over the top of the needle (and over the slipped stitch) to create a yarn over on top of the slipped stitch. The slipped stitch and the yarn over are now counted as one stitch, and should be worked together in the following row.
Instructions:
Using MC, cast on 31 stitches very loosely. You may want to use a larger size needle to cast on, and then transfer the stitches to the Size 3 needle. Do not turn work.
Brioche Set-Up Row: Slide work to other tip of needle and slip the first 3 stitches, leaving them unworked. Attach CC, then *sl1yo, p1; repeat from * to last 4 stitches, then sl1yo. Leave CC yarn in back, then slip the last 3 stitches, leaving them unworked. Turn work.
Brioche Pattern Rows:
Brioche Row 1A (WS MC): Using MC, k3, then, brp1 *sl1yo, brp1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, then k3. Do not turn work.
Brioche Row 1B (WS CC): Slide work to other tip of needle and then sl the first 3 sts, leaving them unworked. Using CC, *sl1yo, brk1; repeat from * to last 4 sts, then sl1yo. Leave CC yarn in back, then sl the last 3 sts, leaving them unworked. Turn work.
Brioche Row 2A (RS MC): Using MC, k3, then, to maintain the CC yo from the previous row, bring the CC color yarn under the left needle and hold it to the back. Using MC, *brk1, sl1yo; rep from * to last 4 sts, brk1, then k3. Do not turn work.
Brioche Row 2B (RS CC): Slide work to other tip of needle and then sl the first 3 sts, leaving them unworked. Using CC, *sl1yo, brp1; rep from * to last 4 sts, then sl1yo. Leave CC yarn in back, then sl the last 3 sts, leaving them unworked. Turn work.
Brioche Row 3A (WS MC): Using MC, k3, then, brp1 *sl1yo, brp1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, then k3. Do not turn work.
Brioche Row 3B (WS CC): Slide work to other tip of needle and then sl the first 3 sts, leaving them unworked. Using CC, *sl1yo, brk1; repeat from * to last 4 sts, then sl1yo. Leave CC yarn in back, then sl the last 3 sts, leaving them unworked. Turn work.

Pre-Work Handout for Fair Isle Hat
Materials:
Smooth, DK or Light Worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors (approx. 130 yards of main color and 50 yards of second color)
One 16" circular needle and one set of DPNs in US size 7 (or size needed for gauge of 5 sts per inch)
Stitch markers (6)
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch in stockinette
Before the class:
Using appropriate size needles (for a gauge of 5 sts. per inch in stockinette), cast on 96 stitches. Join and place marker.
Work your choice of brims:
1. Rolled Brim:
ο§ Work in stockinette (knit all stitches on each round) for 3β.
2. Ribbed Brim:
*K2, P2*, then repeat between * and * until end of round. Repeat until hat reaches 1β in height.
ο§ Then work in stockinette (knit all stitches on each round) until hat reaches 1ΒΎβ in height (1β ribbed + ΒΎ inches in stockinette = 1ΒΎβ total).

Materials:
Smooth, DK or Light Worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors (approx. 50 yards of main color and 50 yards of second color)
One 16 or 24" circular needle in US size 7 (size needed for gauge of 5 sts per inch)
Stitch marker (1)
Gauge: 5 stitches per inch in stockinette
Before the class:
Cast on 40 stitches.
Row 1: (MC) Knit all st
Row 2: (MC) Knit all st
Row 3: (MC) Knit all st
Row 4: (MC) K3, Purl all st until 3 st remain, K3

Sample Sock Pre Work
Materials and Gauge Information:
Approx. 60 yds. of DK (#3) or Worsted (#4) weight yarn (this makes 1 sample sock)
4 double point needles in Size 4 for DK or Size 6 for Worsted weight yarn
Gauge isnβt used for this sample
BEFORE THE CLASS:
Cast On: Cast on 36 sts loosely.
Divide sts on 3 double point needles as follows:
Needle 1: 9 heel sts.
Needle 2: 18 instep sts.
Needle 3: 9 heel sts.
Join. BOR (Beginning of Round) and knit one round.
Cuff: *k1,p1* repeat around for 3 rounds
Leg: Switch to plain knitting for 2 more rounds.
On round 2, knit the stitches on Needles 1 & 2 and then stop
